  • Good Law Project

    Good Law Project

We use the law for a better world. We know that the law, in the right hands, can be a fair and decent force for good. It is a practical tool for positive change and can make amazing things happen.

    View site

    What we did

We redesigned and redeveloped the Good Law Project website working closely with the team and their new brand. With a short turnaround to get ready for Christmas donation appeals, we overhauled the website to make it easier and more intuitive to use for both users and the GLP team.

We continue to work closely with Good Law Project as partners on their digital journey, iterating on their digital presence together in a partnership that is based on our shared vision, beliefs and approach to working in a collaborative way.

  • Energy Saving Trust

    Energy Saving Trust

Energy Saving Trust is working to address the climate emergency. We are a trusted expert on energy efficiency and low carbon solutions.

    View site

    What we did

We redeveloped the Energy Saving Trust website, launching with a new design, site infrastructure, and incorporating a mix of old and new content.

We collaborated with another agency who provided the designs and we built the website out using flexible and modular blocks so the admin team could build out dynamic designed pages internally.

The overall goal of the redesign and development was to make the site far easier to navigate, while showcasing compelling reasons to live a more sustainable life.

  • Unlock

    Unlock

    For people with criminal records.

    View site

    What we did

We redesigned and developed Unlock’s website, combining four existing websites into one unified site. The main challenge was creating a new structure that would allow different audiences and groups to find the content most relevant to them.

With a huge number of resources to help improve the lives of people with criminal records, it was crucial to devise and build a new simplified tagging and categorising system. This was necessary to keep the website well-structured as new content was added and allow users to search through thousands of different resources.

The existing brand did not reach its full potential through its digital implementation, so we developed the brand assets, including a new and revised colour palette, typography, and iconography throughout the site.

  • We Can Talk NHS e-learning

    We Can Talk NHS e-learning

We Can Talk is transforming the experience of people who attend hospital due to their mental health and the staff who support them.

    View site

    What we did

Off the back of a successful partnership in the summer of 2020 to create a basic online training platform to teach NHS staff how to help young people going through a mental health crisis, we launched a full version in 2021 that now has over 20,000 signups.

We created a fully interactive learning platform for NHS staff that includes interactive video content, games and puzzles, easy-to-read content and advice, and much more. The platform produces automated CPD certificates in PDF format, and produces interactive data visualisation for the We Can Talk team.

Throughout the platform there are survey questions and data gathering modules that allow for continued reporting and analysis of the platform and how effective it is in its mission. As of March 2023, 95% of trainees thought that all hospital staff would benefit from the training. 99% of people who completed training said it would have a moderate or significant impact to the way they do their job, and 99.6% of people would recommend the training to their colleagues

Working closely with the We Can Talk team, every aspect of the website was co-produced to be as effective as possible for its intended users. Paying particular attention to the language used throughout the site due to the nature of the content and understanding the busy and often stressed environments users would be accessing the website in, we designed the site to make the experience joyful and as easy as possible.

  • The Commonwealth Foundation

    The Commonwealth Foundation

The Commonwealth’s agency for civil society. We support participation in democracy, development, and creative expression.

    View site

    What we did

We created the updated Commonwealth Foundation site, as well as their sister project, Commonwealth Writers. A huge amount of content had to be organised into a format that was as intuitive and as navigable as possible for all user groups.

We reimagined the way that Commonwealth Foundation talked about projects to members of the public, focussing less on internal distinctions and departments, and instead building a site structure around how people would be most likely to look for individual projects and content.

  • Save the Children

    Save the Children

The use of explosive weapons in urban areas is one of the greatest tragedies of our time. The United Nations has stated that it is the largest cause of civilian deaths in today’s conflict areas.

    View site

    What we did

We created an immersive and interactive experience where you could enter your postcode, and see a digital representation of the horrors of bombs falling from the sky.

Save the Children wanted to find an innovative way to cut through the noise and connect with people on this issue. The primary challenge was that, through geographical distance and lack of personal connection with those affected, the nightmare of being in a place where bombs are actually falling from the sky is quite unimaginable.

The tool was created as a starting point, to promote awareness and stimulate discussion around what is acceptable in modern warfare, and to highlight the many dire consequences of the use of explosive weapons in urban areas – from direct fatalities, to contaminated water, to families torn apart and many more.

  • Tax Justice UK

    Tax Justice UK

Tax Justice UK is fighting for fairer taxes that take more from the very rich – and reverse inequality in the UK. With your help we can win.

    View site

  • Prison Reform Trust

    Prison Reform Trust

The Prison Reform Trust (PRT) is an independent UK charity working to create a just, humane and effective penal system.

The site was built in a fully flexible way with custom-designed modules that the Prison Reform Trust staff can use to grow and evolve the website over time with little to no additional development work needed.

    Scope for Business

Scope for Business is here to help organisations improve their accessibility and inclusion for disabled staff, jobseekers and consumers.

    View site

    What we did

We have worked with Scope on many projects over the last few years, with a particular focus on The Big Hack (now Scope for Business after a 2022 rebranding we conducted) – a project within Scope that aims to make the digital world more accessible by reducing barriers online.

We designed and developed the brand and website for the Big Hack, building a large community of disabled people and accessibility advocates. Fundamentally we aimed to lead by example in creating a website that goes further than WCAG accessibility guidelines, yet still is creative and pushing boundaries.

  • Can I Vote

    Can I Vote

A joint initiative run by Citizens UK, Migrant Democracy Project and Just Register. Together we are helping migrants in the UK to get registered to vote.

    View site

    What we did

Working closely with The Small Axe, we created a website that would allow non-British citizens living in the UK to understand exactly what elections they could vote in, and provide them information and resources to help make voting easier.

The website was created in a very fast turnaround for local elections in May 2024, and was translated into 12 different languages to ensure that as many communities as possible could access the information that is so vital to participating in democracy.

  • Climate Barometer

    What we did

We very recently launched a new website for Climate Barometer, an organisation that aims to better inform all actors involved in the climate space on public opinion, and allow for a more evidence and logical approach to a politically charged space.

We worked closely and collaboratively with the Climate Barometer team, helping design the strategy, approach and structure, as well as creating a full brand identity that would be both neutral yet ambitious.

  • CVAA

    What we did

We redesigned and developed a website for the Consortium of Voluntary Adoption Agencies. This membership website seeks to share knowledge and expertise between its members and improve the experience of adoption across the sector.

We built a custom membership experience on top of the WordPress CMS, tailoring it to CVAA’s needs. We worked closely with the CVAA team and their members to build a website matched to CVAA’s members’ technical abilities, rather than assuming they could adapt to a more digital-first approach.

  • Arms Trade Litigation Monitor

    Arms Trade Litigation Monitor

The Arms Trade Litigation Monitor (ATLM) tracks and documents litigation and other legal interventions against arms exports. To date, the main focus has been on arms supplies linked with the armed conflicts and humanitarian crises in Yemen and Palestine.

    View site

    What we did

We created the branding, visual identity and new website for The Arms Trade Litigation Monitor, a joint initiative of Saferworld and the Emergent Justice Collective, with the support of the International Commission of Jurists.

The goal of the website was to organise and present legal updates and information in an easily searchable and consumable way. Since a lot of the legal cases and documents are very dense, and different audience groups are interested in the content at different levels of abstraction, we organised the website into a visual dashboard-style format starting with case overview pages where top level information could be found, leading through to case-specific dashboards with full case documentation listed, allowing users to delve deeper as needed.

Well thought-through taxonomies, index pages and search allow users to source cases with similar themes, helping them build a picture of the landscape around these legal challenges.

  • Local Energy Scotland

    Local Energy Scotland

We have built an entirely bespoke members portal where local developers and project owners can login and submit information about their renewable projects that communities, Scottish government, and members of the public can view and interact with.

  • Egypt Death Penalty Index

    Egypt Death Penalty Index

The Egypt Death Penalty Index: a statistical database tracking Egypt’s application of the death penalty.

    View site

    What we did

We redesigned and redeveloped an index cataloguing incidents of use of the Death Penalty in Egypt, with a focus on easy filtering and searching of incidents to allow analysis of statistics and trends to take place more easily and help build more robust criticism of the practice.

We had to build this with multiple audiences in mind, from human rights activists, to journalists, to bereaved / concerned family members, academics and more. Fundamentally, we took a simple approach, allowing the data and information to speak for itself.

  • Centre for Military Justice

    What we did

We designed and developed the website for Centre for Military Justice, a charity that provides free, independent, expert legal services to serving or former members of the Armed Forces and their bereaved families, as well as providing information and resources on the subject of injustices within the military.

We designed and built the website with different audiences in mind, segmenting between donors and fundraisers, victims and individual service users, journalists and academics, and resources and support for professionals in the area.

  • Transparency International Defence & Security

    What we did

We gave the main TIDS website and their indices (GDI & DCI) a brand refresh in the process of rebuilding them to launch the latest sets of TIDS data analysing government and private corruption. It was important that data from any of the three sites could be drawn into any of the other sites to draw comparisons and highlight relevant information.

The design of the indices allows users to ‘drill down’ into the detail if desired, or to compare the scores of countries/companies at a higher level if preferred. The map was a key feature of this project that helped link together the GDI and DCI, as well as some relevant SIPRI Arms Trade data in an interactive and visual way (https://ti-defence.org/gdi/map/).

  • Gleaning Network

    Gleaning Network

Connect with local farmers to harvest surplus fruits or vegetables that would otherwise go to waste with community-led gleaning from Feedback Global!

    View site

    What we did

We created a visual identity for the Feedback Global’s ‘Gleaning Network Toolkit’, a charity we’ve worked with on a number of projects dedicated to the environmental impact of the food system. The goal for the branding was to touch on the visual style of Feedback Global’s main site but to be visually distinct. We turned their 60 page pdf into an updatable, dynamic and engaging multi-page website that users can easily navigate and refer back to. Mixed media, and an easy and intuitive way for the admin team to build out the chapters, ensured that was a truly digital-first approach to training.

  • Free Movement

    What we did

We redesigned and developed the Free Movement law blog, the most visited immigration based legal site in the UK.

Building out their members portal including a forum, locked and exclusive content for members, and multiple training modules which both monitor progress and provide automated certification.

CHD and Free Movement have a long-running partnership that’s 6 years counting and still going strong. With around 15,000 active members, the site continues to be a vital resource for immigration officials and professionals.

  • Feedback Global

    Feedback Global

Feedback is regenerating nature by transforming our food system. We challenge power, catalyse action and empower people to achieve positive change.

    View site

    What we did

We redesigned and developed Feedback’s website, an environmental campaign group whose aim is to fundamentally transform the current food system. Their site needed to accommodate their broad range of campaigns, each targeting a different section of the food cycle, while still forming a coherent narrative around the food cycle as a whole.

We also built modular ‘action blocks’ within each campaign to direct users to the most pressing actions required of them at the time. These were designed to be changed and updated in response to the most current developments within the campaign.

  • Lewisham Refugee & Migrant Network

    Lewisham Refugee & Migrant Network

  • Aid Transparency Index

    What we did

We redesigned and developed the Aid Transparency Index for Publish What You Fund in 2018. The goal was to present complex information in an easily comparable and searchable format that surfaces trends and patterns.

We created a new colour and shade-based visual data system that progressed in complexity and detail with each layer that you clicked through. On initial load the user sees a broader overview and is then able to delve into more detail with each click, ensuring they never feel overwhelmed by seeing too much information at once.

Using a combination of automated migration for the significant number of news posts, and manual recreation, we have created a replica of the existing site that was hosted on a small bespoke CMS to WordPress.

While migrating, we made a number of small but impactful improvements, such as taking content out of a carousel and prioritising ease of use for their users.

  • Foreign Policy Centre

    Foreign Policy Centre

The Foreign Policy Centre is an open space for experts from across the world working on solutions to today’s international challenges

    View site

    What we did

We redesigned and built the Foreign Policy Centre website many years ago, focusing on simplicity and ease of navigation. A thorough tagging and categorisation system behind the scenes meant that content could be surfaced wherever it is most relevant, and gave end users powerful filtering functionality.

FPC started as a predominantly print-based think-tank, we helped them re-imagine the various publication types into a digital format, grouping modular articles into different collections, and driving interest to their multiple events. Despite being designed and built on a fairly small budget over 6 years ago, the website is still actively used by a large user base and has not required any additional development work by us.

As a result, we created a site that needed to load less than 300kb of data, and used a flexible and simple design that works as well in Arabic and Russian as it does in English.

    What we did

A landmark report developed in partnership with Human After All to showcase the amazing work being created in the Social Impact Entertainment area.

  • Institute of Fiscal Studies NHS tool

    What we did

We created a micro-site tool for the Institute of Fiscal Studies (IFS) to highlight the difficult choices that needed to be made in order to fund the proposed increase in NHS spending. Intended to reach a wider audience than typical IFS supporters.

We created a platform that would engage users on a difficult and complex topic to understand that focused on ease of use and interactivity.

  • The Progressive Alliance Campaign 2017

    What we did

We worked on the Progressive Alliance campaign for Compass alongside our friends The Small Axe. With a snap election called by Theresa May, we had to move quickly and efficiently, creating various outputs that could reach across the political divide of progressive parties and foster a sense of working together.

As well as collaboratively designing and building the main Progressive Alliance campaign website and vote smart tool, we also created various animations, microsites and explainer videos – including a comparison based video explaining tactical voting that got over half a million views on Facebook.

  • Comprova

    What we did

We created a brand for a fact-checking news service for the then-upcoming Brazilian elections. In a rapid 10-day turnaround, we made the new brand and a simple website that would host information and different media types.

The main challenge when creating the branding for Comprova was finding a brand that was politically neutral and would not be aligned too closely with any one of its members (not an easy task when there are 24 members with distinct branding, colours, history and rivalries!).
